elemental is based on a theoretical framework described in a British Psychological Society review as “impressive and thoroughly convincing”. The common themes running through several decades of research on intrinsic motivation are a) identifying with the nature of the task; and b) encountering appropriate challenge. elemental is therefore in two parts representing what you want to do and how you want to do it.
